Optional Accident Insurance
While most playground bumps and scrapes can be handled at school, not all injuries – or their related costs – are covered by provincial or group healthcare plans.
Please note the ҹɫapp School District does not cover medical expenses for student injuries that happen at school or during school activities. Any costs not covered by MSP or a parent/guardian's workplace plan are the responsibility of the family.
To help offset unexpected expenses, families may wish to consider purchasing optional student accident insurance. Coverage starts at just $17 a year, depending on the plan, and can help cover costs that aren't included in MSP or group insurance, such as:
- emergency dental treatment
- prescription eyewear
- crutches or wheelchair rentals
- casts, splints, and braces
- physiotherapy
- ambulance services
- private tutoring or counselling during recovery
Families are encouraged to review their current coverage and consider whether additional accident insurance would be helpful.
For convenience, information is available about two optional programs that offer low-cost plans:
Both providers offer online access to plan details, enrollment, and claims forms. Families are responsible for selecting and purchasing any insurance plan that best suits their needs.
