? Pink Shirt Day reminds us to pause and reflect but, as we've shown this past week, the real work continues every day. Across our schools, students are learning how to be kind, how to include others and how to support one another. That learning looks different at every age, but the goal is the same ¡ª safe, caring and welcoming schools for all students. Kindness is a skill we build together.

? Stories can help us see the world through someone else¡¯s eyes. Students at our secondary schools recently watched a short version of the one-person show The Blue Taffeta Party Dress and Other Stories. Written and performed by ҹɫapp's Dennis Hawkins-Bogle, and directed by Heather Gordon Murphy, the show shares memories from his life growing up in a small town in B.C. and the people who supported him along the way. Through storytelling, students heard about choosing authenticity over fear, joy over judgement, and community over isolation. Experiences like this invite reflection and help students think about how their words and actions affect others, and how they can help create school communities where everyone feels respected.
